Murder Mystery Game: 1920s edition

Murder Mystery Game: 1920s edition

When the clock struck midnight, a scream echoed through the speakeasy. The lights flickered, the music halted, and by the time order was restored, one guest lay dead. It's up to you and the rest of the attendees to unravel the mystery and discover the killer among you.

Objective: Unmask the murderer before time runs out!

1. Setup:
Distribute character cards randomly among the players. These cards detail their character's background and secret.
Hand out a small notebook and pen to each player for taking notes.
The host (or a designated player) will play the role of the detective, guiding the narrative and presenting clues.

2. Gameplay:
Round 1 (Introductions): Each player introduces themselves in character, sharing their background but not their secret.
Round 2 (Discovery): The host describes the crime scene and presents the first set of clues. Players can ask questions to gather more information.
Round 3 (Interrogation): Players interact with each other in character, asking questions and sharing (or hiding) information. They may choose to reveal their secrets or keep them hidden.
Round 4 (Accusation): Each player, in turn, voices their suspicions, pointing out who they think is the murderer and providing a reason for their accusation.
Round 5 (Revelation): Players reveal their secrets, and the murderer confesses. The host narrates the conclusion of the story..

3. Rules:
Stay in Character: Always act and speak in line with your character's background and motivations
No Physical Contact: This is a game of wits, words, and strategy. No physical contact is allowed.
Trust No One: Everyone has secrets. Be wary of alliances and always be on guard.
Time Limit: Each round should last 15-20 minutes. The host should keep track and announce when the round is about to end.

4. Winning:
The game ends once the murderer is revealed.
If a player correctly identifies the murderer during the Accusation round and provides the correct motive, they win alongside any other players who did the same.
If no one correctly identifies the murderer, then the murderer wins the game.

It's all about storytelling. Embellish, be dramatic, and have fun with your character. Remember, it's not just about finding the killer; it's about the journey, interactions, and unfolding narratives.
